Why are you collecting text messages?
We are collecting text messages so that we can understand how couples communicate in daily life and how this relates to how they deal with challenges.
Why do you need both my partner and I to participate?
We would like both you and your partner to participate because we want to get both of your perspectives and understand how you work together as a couple to cope with stress.
How much time does this study take all totaled?
This study will take about 3-4 hours of your time, typically over a span of about one month.
How will you extract the text messages from my phone?
This depends on your preferences. The first option is that we can send you written instructions and you or your partner can extract the messages yourselves. The second option is that we can walk you through this over the phone. For individuals living in the lower mainland, we have a third option, which is that we can meet you or your spouse in person and guide you through the extraction in person or we can do it for you.
The bottom line is that you get to choose. You can take some time to think about which option you prefer and we can set something up after the daily diary part of this study.
Will pictures be included in your collection of text messages?
No, pictures will not be included in the collection of your messages.
What date range of messages will you be collecting?
We will be requesting that you provide 90 days of messages. There will be an opportunity for you to delete any messages that you are uncomfortable with sharing.
Am I able to receive communications about the study results?
Yes, we will provide information about our findings.
